Netball for All Abilities – DONALD

The All Abilities Netball Program has made a welcome return to Donald, with the first of four weekly sessions held on Wednesday 15 July at the Donald Primary School Stadium.

Running from 10.00 am – 11.00 am each Wednesday, the program is proudly delivered through a partnership between Mallee Sports Assembly, Donald High School, Donald Netball Club, and Donald Primary School, with support from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Together More Active Program.

A fantastic 28 participants attended the opening session, enjoying a morning filled with fun, friendship, and physical activity.

Mallee Sports Assembly’s Project Officer Rhonda Allan welcomed everyone. He highlighted the importance of organisations working together to create inclusive opportunities that improve health, wellbeing, and social connection throughout regional Victoria.

A huge thank you goes to Anthony Tatchell and the five enthusiastic Donald High School student volunteers, together with Emma Green and new mum Caitlin Cavanagh from the Donald Netball Club, who planned and delivered a variety of engaging eye and ball coordination activities. Participants had a great time playing games such as rolling balls to knock over cones, building confidence and skills.

It was wonderful to welcome participants and staff from McCallum Day Services (St Arnaud), Woodbine (Warracknabeal), along with local community members, who are already looking forward to the remaining three sessions.

Netball is a fantastic sport that can be adapted for people of all ages, abilities, genders, and skill levels, making it a fun and inclusive activity for everyone.
