Congratulations, Kris Tonner – June 2026 Monthly Winner – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Mildura Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor Kris has been recognised as the June Sports Star after an outstanding 2026 season marked by consistent performances and an impressive medal haul across major championships.

Kris produced an exceptional performance at the 2026 South Pacific Championship, held in Morayfield on 28 June, competing across four divisions and securing two gold medals, one silver and one bronze. He claimed gold in both the Male Absolute No-Gi / Blue / Master 3 / Open Weight and Male Absolute Gi / Blue / Master 3 / Open Weight divisions. He also secured bronze in the Male No-Gi / Blue / Master 1 (30+) / Above 97.50kg Ultra Heavy division and silver in the Male Gi / Blue / Master 1 (30+) / +100.5kg Ultra Heavy division.

The South Pacific Championship results added to an outstanding year for Kris. Earlier in 2026, Kris competed at the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championship, recording an impressive one gold, two silver and one bronze medal. His results included gold in the Master 4 +100.5kg division, silver in both the Absolute Gi and Absolute No-Gi divisions, and bronze in the Master 1 Above 97.50kg division.

Kris continued his strong form at the Australian Jiu Jitsu Championship, held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre from 14–16 August. He again finished with an impressive four-medal haul, winning three gold medals and one bronze. His gold-medal performances came in the Master 4 +100.5kg, Absolute Gi and Absolute No-Gi divisions, further demonstrating his ability to compete successfully across both Gi and No-Gi disciplines and across Masters and Absolute competition.
