Level 1 Sports Trainer Course – KERANG

A Level 1 Sports Trainers and First Aid course was conducted at the Kerang Football Netball Club.
Dawn Ferrier from TalkSmart Training in Echuca was the experienced facilitator, assisted by her qualified daughter Zoe Ferrier. Dawn once again worked in partnership with Project Officer, Rhonda Allan of the Mallee Sports Assembly – Wycheproof.
Dawn has been extremely busy facilitating several courses throughout the region, and we sincerely thank her for her valued services, which continue to provide local people with the opportunity to become qualified Level 1 Sports Trainers while also gaining their First Aid certification.
While some trainer courses are industry recognised, this Level 1 Sports Trainer course is nationally recognised. Sports taping techniques for elbows, ankles, knees, fingers, thumbs, plantar fasciitis and Achilles injuries were included in the practical session.
All theory components were completed online before the workshop, with participants attending the practical day to undertake the hands-on component. The Level 1 Sports Trainer course teaches crucial skills in safety and injury prevention during sporting activities. It is ideal for those involved in sports-related roles, including club volunteers, coaches and sports enthusiasts.
The course covered injury prevention and management strategies, making it a valuable resource for anyone involved in community sport. The skill set incorporated HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, along with preparing participants for sport competition and implementing sport injury prevention and management strategies.
A big thank you to the Kerang Football Netball Club for providing the venue free of charge, arranging access to the facility and supplying trainer tables for participants to use — support that was very much appreciated.
Congratulations to the 14 participants from seven different clubs who successfully completed the Level 1 Sports Trainers course, representing Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers FNC, Cohuna Kangas FNC, Mildura South Sporting Club, Gol Gol FNC & the Deniliquin Rovers.
