All Abilities Volleyball – Swan Hill

The Mallee Sports Assembly’s All Abilities Volleyball Program has commenced at Swan Hill Stadium, with the first of four sessions held on Monday 13 July 2026.

The program is proudly supported by Sport and Recreation Victoria through the Access for All Abilities initiative, which aims to increase opportunities for people of all abilities to participate in inclusive sport and active recreation.

Prior to the program commencing, Mallee Sports Assembly Project Officer Rhonda Allan consulted with local disability service providers to identify the next preferred activity for participants. Volleyball proved to be a popular choice, and Rhonda worked closely with Jane Prochilo from Swan Hill Stadium to coordinate the venue, session times and program logistics. Together they prepared four volleyball courts to ensure everything was ready for the opening session.

The program was officially launched with an introduction by Emma from Swan Hill Specialist School, who guided participants through the basic skills, rules and modified format of volleyball. Her presentation helped everyone feel comfortable and confident before taking to the courts.

Participants attended from Swan Hill Discoveries, Swan Hill Specialist School, and Chasing Hope, with an impressive 39 people taking part in the opening session despite several regular participants being unavailable.

The first session was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork and plenty of smiles as participants embraced the modified games, developed new skills, remained active and enjoyed the opportunity to experience volleyball in a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment. The positive interactions between participants, support staff and volunteers highlighted the value of creating accessible sporting opportunities that promote confidence, friendships and community connections.

The four-week program will continue each Monday until 3 August 2026, with sessions held from 1.15 pm to 2.15 pm at Swan Hill Stadium.

New participants are welcome to attend at any stage throughout the program. Mallee Sports Assembly encourages anyone interested in participating to come along and experience the many physical, social and wellbeing benefits of inclusive sport.

Mallee Sports Assembly extends its sincere thanks to everyone involved in making the program possible and looks forward to another three weeks of fun, participation and active recreation.
