Congratulations, Tyler Carter – May 2026 Monthly Winner – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

At just 17 years of age, Tyler is already making a name for herself in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, competing successfully against older and more experienced athletes at state and international level.

Tyler made an immediate impact at the AFBJJ Victorian State Championships, competing in her first event as a Purple Belt and her first competition in the Adult division. She claimed the Gi division title, winning both matches by submission and finishing the tournament without conceding a single point.

Competing against more experienced Adult athletes, Tyler demonstrated outstanding skill, composure and determination to claim the Victorian title in her first Adult competition. As one of the youngest Purple Belts in the sport, her achievement is particularly impressive.

Her success at state level has opened the door to even bigger opportunities. Tyler recently travelled to Long Beach, California, to compete at the IBJJF Gi World Championships, making her debut on the world stage.

Competing in a field of 30 athletes, Tyler put in a strong performance against the eventual third-place finisher, narrowly losing a closely contested match.

Following her Victorian success, Tyler has also been selected to represent Victoria in the upcoming Brazilian Jiu Jitsu State of Origin, adding another exciting opportunity to an already impressive year.

With her continued commitment, determination, and outstanding performances, Tyler is establishing herself as a rising talent in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and one to watch for the future.
