July 2024 Sports Star Monthly Winner – Tony Scott – LAWN BOWLS

Tony Scott has been selected as the 2024 Community Bank Merbein & District 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year for the month of July.

Tony recently competed at the 2024 Australian Blind Bowls Association National Championships which were held at the Coomealla Sporting Club, chasing a tenth national title. Tony was victorious in the B3 Open Singles, where he won nine games out of a possible ten to finish two games clear of the rest of the field. Against four opponents he won both games, while against his fifth opponent who is a current member of the Australian Para Jackaroos, they each won one game. He also experienced success in the B3/B4 Open Pairs, where he took silver alongside a teammate competing in his first National Championship.

In May, Tony was awarded life membership at the Euston Bowls Club. Currently serving as president, Tony was recognized for his countless hours spent furthering the Euston Bowls Club. He currently serves as the Chairman of Selectors for the Australian Blind Bowls Association, and became Vice President in 2022.

As the July winner Tony received a voucher proudly sponsored by Intersport and is now eligible for the 2024 Community Bank Merbein & District 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year Awards to be held on Friday February 21, 2025; at the Club Da Vinci, Mildura ………Congratulations Tony………………
