All Abilities Volleyball Swan Hill

The All Abilities Volleyball Program at Swan Hill Stadium, supported by Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Together More Active program, has provided an inclusive and welcoming opportunity for people of all abilities to participate in sport, try something new, develop skills and enjoy positive social connections.

The sessions have been informal, fun and supportive, with no pressure placed on participants based on their skill level or ability. The focus has simply been on being active, learning new skills, building confidence and enjoying the experience of playing sport with others.

“This program has allowed particiants to try out a new activity and learn new skills. The stadium is a wonderful venue, as it eliminates the worry of the weather and allows everyone to participate in a safe and comfortable environment.” said Mallee Sports Assembly Project Officer Rhonda Allan, who coordinated the program.

Participants have attended from Swan Hill Discoveries, Swan Hill Specialist School, Accomplish Support and Chasing Hope, with a total of 49 people participating across the four-week program. This is an excellent turnout, particularly with several regular participants unavailable at various times.

The enthusiasm, participation, and interaction shown by everyone have been truly inspiring. Participants have embraced the modified games, remained active throughout the sessions, and enjoyed the opportunity to learn a new sport in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment
