May 6 2026MSA Netball for ALL Abilities – SWAN HILL
Netball is a fantastic sport that can be easily modified to ensure people of all abilities can participate and feel included. A recent 4-week inclusive netball program, held at the Swan Hill Stadium highlighted just how impactful these opportunities can be.
MSA Project Officer, Rhonda Allan once again collaborated with Jane Prochilo from Swan Hill Stadium, who facilitated the sessions. Jane delivered an engaging and inclusive program that all participants thoroughly enjoyed.
Importantly, venue hire was funded by Swan Hill Rural City Council, helping to remove financial barriers and make participation more accessible.
The program welcomed participants from a range of local organisations, including We Are Vivid (Swan Hill and Kerang), Echuca Discoveries (Swan Hill), Swan Hill Specialist School, Accomplish Support, and Chasing Hope. This diverse group created a vibrant and supportive environment across all four weeks.
Each session began with warm-up activities, followed by skill development such as shooting and ball-handling drills. In the final session, three courts were utilised to accommodate the enthusiastic group, allowing everyone to take part in modified games.
Jane and Rhonda both took on umpiring roles and were delighted to see noticeable improvements in participants’ skills and confidence throughout the program. The sessions were full of energy, with some fantastic passages of play and strong engagement from everyone involved.
Whether on or off the court, participants remained highly interactive and eager to be involved. Even staff found themselves challenged to keep up with the pace, something that added to the fun and positive atmosphere of the program.
