National Volunteers Week - "Making a world of difference"

 

Following on from the successful “This Girl Can Week” campaign, Mallee Sports Assembly is keen to celebrate National Volunteer Week (NVW) by acknowledging the generous contributions of our nation’s volunteers. 

In celebration, Volunteering Australia is pleased to announce the theme for National Volunteer Week 2019 – “Making a world of difference”.  From 20–26 May 2019, thousands of events will be held across the country to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer their time. The week-long celebration will include breakfasts, morning/afternoon teas, and luncheons, as well as open days, award ceremonies, picnics, forums and training sessions.   In 2016, Australians collectively volunteered 932 million hours in their local communities.

As part Mallee Sports Assembly contribution to National Volunteer Week we will recognise volunteers at our sporting club/association by extending an invitation to our members to submit a 100 word story and include photos endorsing volunteers “Making a world of difference”.   During National Volunteer Week MSA will recognise our volunteers who “Make a World of difference” at our member clubs/associations on social media, website and in the June newsletter.  Please remember that our sporting clubs/associations would not exist without our VOLUNTEERS – why not recognise these wonderful people.

Mildura - All Abilities Sport

All Abilities Sport activities in October and November

Mildura Workers Bowls Club and Mildura Lawn Tennis Club will be providing sport options for people with disability in October to November this year.

On Tuesday evenings Mildura Workers Bowls Club, coordinate an All Abilities Lawn Bowls Program which will commence on the 9th October to 27th November 2018, 6-7pm. This is a free program for everyone to come along and enjoy and learn the basics of lawn bowls. All equipment is supplied by the club.

Mildura Lawn Tennis Club will be conducting a social tennis program for people with disability on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm.  Everyone is welcome to come and join the program which will recommence on the 10th October until the 13th December 2018. If you are not a member of Mildura Lawn Tennis Club, it will be $6 to play each week. For Club members it is a free program.

Participants play social tennis matches with some minor coaching, to help improve skills, coordination and direction. Volunteers from Mildura Lawn Tennis Club, help coordinate and conduct the program.

    Mallee Sports Assembly along with Cricket Victoria will conduct an Active Girls Breakfast and Leadership Forum on Thursday 29th August from 9.

    Kerang will host a- A Level 2 Sports Trainer Reaccreditation Course - August 21, 2019 from 7.
  • Mda All Abilities Cricket Carnival
    2019 Country Hearing Care Mildura All Abilities Cricket Carnival Mallee Sports Assembly will again conduct the 2019 Country Hearing Care Mildura All Abilities Cricket Carnival on the 24 & 25 October 2019.
  • Mildura - Sports Trainer Courses
    Mallee Sports Assembly will again host Sports Trainer Courses for Level 1 Sports Trainer Course to be conducted at South Mildura Sporting Club on the 25th August, 2019 and also an Emergency Response Co-ordinator Course will be conducted at the South Mildura Sporting Club on the 14th August, 2019.
