National Volunteers Week - "Making a world of difference"

Following on from the successful “This Girl Can Week” campaign, Mallee Sports Assembly is keen to celebrate National Volunteer Week (NVW) by acknowledging the generous contributions of our nation’s volunteers.

In celebration, Volunteering Australia is pleased to announce the theme for National Volunteer Week 2019 – “Making a world of difference”.  From 20–26 May 2019, thousands of events will be held across the country to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer their time. The week-long celebration will include breakfasts, morning/afternoon teas, and luncheons, as well as open days, award ceremonies, picnics, forums and training sessions.   In 2016, Australians collectively volunteered 932 million hours in their local communities.

As part Mallee Sports Assembly contribution to National Volunteer Week we will recognise volunteers at our sporting club/association by extending an invitation to our members to submit a 100 word story and include photos endorsing volunteers “Making a world of difference”.   During National Volunteer Week MSA will recognise our volunteers who “Make a World of difference” at our member clubs/associations on social media, website and in the June newsletter.  Please remember that our sporting clubs/associations would not exist without our VOLUNTEERS – why not recognise these wonderful people.

Please forward story and photos through to Mallee Sports Assembly by 15th May, 2019.  Member Clubs/associations are not restricted as to the number of volunteer submissions.

Carpet Bowls is on again for All Abilities in Kerang

Wed, 05 Sep 2018 20:34:00 +1000

Carpet Bowls is on again at the Kerang Bowling Club. This is open to anyone who wants to have some fun playing indoor carpet bowls -great for these cold mornings. Rhonda Allan of the Mallee Sports Assembly liaised with volunteers from the club who also came along to join in with the session.  With the equipment already to go upon arrival. Participants from We are Vived all enjoyed the first session of the 3 week program.   Everyone enjoyed activity and tried their best to get as close to that little white ball/kitty.

Mallee Sports Assembly presented a “Certificate of Appreciation” to Kerang Bowling Club for supporting inclusive sport & recreation.

This program is an initiative of the “Access for All Abilities” program (funded by Dept Health and Human Services under the Sport & Recreation of Victoria “umbrella”) which focuses on inclusive sport and recreation for all levels of abilities.

Anyone is welcome to come along and everyone is looking forward to the remaining weeks.
